World Food Invest: Unlocking capital for frontier food systems.

World Food Invest is a WFP-sponsored initiative connecting agri-food SMEs contributing to food security with investment capital, leveraging WFP’s food systems expertise and operational presence to originate and de-risk investments in frontier markets. It combines impact investments, established fund managers’ investment and value creation expertise, with WFP’s pre- and post-investment support to strengthen market linkages and deliver catalytic impact. The first fund targets USD 100M in Africa, with additional funds under consideration, including a Ukraine-specific fund (USD 50M target).

Investment & impact strategy: Investment fund deploying debt and mezzanine financing (USD 1-5M tickets) into agri-food SMEs across Africa, with market-making and value-creation facilities. Focuses on the middle of value chains, from aggregation to processing, contributing to food security.
